In addition to standard products and components, many companies possess an increasing number of configurable products which are created according to the customers requirements. A typical example is an office chair which, due to the many combination possibilities for covering material, material color, back type, color of frame, etc. can be purchased in thousands of variations. Dealing with such products using the prevalent cross media publishing solutions has been problematic. With Viamedici EPIM, these problems are now over. Using the integrated product configurator, whole bodies of rules can be maintained, administered and – for quality control – visualized. Order numbers and prices can be dynamically generated. The rules can be multiplied out at any time and all or individual configurations can be automatically created as product variants in Viamedici if, e.g. these are to be carried in the product line as ready-configured products with a designated order number. All configuration data can, of course, be used in diverse target media.
